When setup is finished, Windows 10 will be running in VirtualBox. When you’re finished, quit VirtualBox like any other application and Windows 10 will shut down. When you want to run Windows again in Mac OS X, just launch VirtualBox again, select your Windows 10 virtual machine, and click the “Start” button to boot Windows in the app. In the folder, you will find a.VMDK file, which stands for Virtual Machine Disk Format. This is an alternative method for sharing or transferring files from Windows 10 Host to Mac OS X Guest in VirtualBox. I have tried several tutorials sprawn all over the net and this method simply came to me by accident.

The reason I badly needed this was I was having problems installing XCode from the AppStore. So an alternative was to download it via torrent in my host, and move it from Host to Guest. For some reason, torrent can’t be installed in the Guest OS.

The idea is to use the Guest’s (Mac OS X VirtualBox) optical drive.

  1. So first, I have to package the file(s) into an ISO Image file. I used UltraISO to do this, there are other tools available as well.

  1. And if you have installable files, works perfectly too!

In conclusion this might not be a direct way, to get the files from Host to Guest in VirtualBox. But this is at least a legit working solution to getting your needed stuff in your virtual environment.
